Business Management Software in Nigeria: Run Sales, Stock, Bookings and Your Store Website in One Place
Olamide Ademola · · 7 min read

How many apps, books and WhatsApp chats does it take to run your business today?
For most Nigerian businesses the answer is too many. Sales go in a notebook. Stock lives in someone's head or an Excel sheet. Online orders come through DMs. Bookings sit in a diary. Money in and money out ends up in three different places, and nobody can tell you today's real position without an hour of adding up.
Business management software puts all of that in one place. This guide explains what good business management software in Nigeria should do, what to check before you choose one, and how Anvela handles each part. It works for a single shop, a salon, a restaurant, or a business with several branches and a warehouse.
Watch: one place for your whole business
This one-minute video shows the main things Anvela does for a business.
What the video says, in short: your shop closes at nine, but your store website doesn't have to. You scan sales instead of typing them. Every size and colour has its own stock and price. Salons and other services take bookings with a deposit paid upfront. Selling keeps going when the network drops. And Ellis answers questions about your business from your own records.
What business management software should do for a Nigerian business
A business management app is only useful if it covers the work you do every day. Here is what to expect, area by area.
1. Record every sale, fast
The counter is where most money comes in, so selling must be quick. You should be able to scan a barcode with a scanner or your phone's camera, choose how the customer paid (cash, transfer, card on a POS machine, or part cash), and send the receipt to the customer's WhatsApp.
In Anvela, every sale takes the item out of stock the moment it is recorded. A busy counter can use the Till, which works from the keyboard and a barcode scanner. We cover that in our guide to the POS system for shops in Nigeria.
2. Keep one honest stock number
Stock should go down when you sell and up when goods arrive, at every store. If you sell clothes, shoes or phones, every size and colour needs its own stock and its own price, so you know the red size 42 is gone before a customer asks.
If your shelves and your records never agree, start with why your shop stock never adds up.
3. Sell online from the same stock
Your business should have its own store website that sells from the same stock as your counter. Then an item sold online cannot also be sold in the shop.
With Anvela your shop gets its own link at https://anvela.ng/s/ and your shop's name, and an address like yourshop.anvela.ng. You can also connect a web address you already own. Customers pay through Paystack, and the money goes straight to your bank account. You can choose to show your shop on Anvela Market too, so new customers in your state can find it.

4. Take bookings, with a deposit
Salons, barbers, spas, studios, event halls and anyone who sells time need bookings, not just sales. Good software lets customers book a free time online and pay a deposit or the full price, so a booked slot is a paid slot. Read more in our guide to the salon and barber booking app in Nigeria.
5. Keep selling when the network drops
Network trouble is part of business in Nigeria. Your app should not stop selling because data is down. Anvela records paid sales with no network, on the phone and on the web. It sends them by itself when the network is back and checks stock then. You can always see whether a sale is saved, waiting, sending or sent.
6. Show you the money, truthfully
You need to know what came in, what went out, and what you actually made. Sales are not profit: the cost of the goods you sold has to come off first. Our naira example of cost of goods sold shows why.
Anvela records money out (rent, fuel, salaries) beside your sales. From the Growth plan up, Money keeps the books for you as you sell, with VAT on receipts only if your business charges it. At closing, the cash count tells you what should be in the cash box and asks for a reason when it does not match.
7. Let staff work without seeing everything
Your team should be able to sell and count stock without seeing the figures only the owner should see. Anvela has three roles: the Founder, Supervisors and Operators. Each sees and does only what their role allows, so sales charts and the sales less money out figure stay with the Founder and Supervisors.
8. Answer your questions in plain words
Instead of building reports, you should be able to ask. Ellis, Anvela's assistant, answers questions like "How much did we sell today?" or "Who still owes us?" from your own records, in the language you write in. Ellis can get an action ready, but nothing happens until a person says yes.
A checklist before you choose business management software
Ask these questions about any app you consider:
- Do counter sales and online sales take from the same stock?
- Can I scan barcodes with my phone's camera, not only with a scanner?
- Does it keep working offline, and what happens to sales made offline?
- Can each size and colour have its own stock and price?
- Can customers book and pay a deposit online?
- Do customers pay straight into my own bank account?
- Can staff sell without seeing the owner's figures?
- Can I import my current stock list from Excel?
- Is the price in naira, and what happens when the free period ends?
- Will it still fit when I open a second branch or a warehouse?

One app for businesses of every size
Business management software should grow with you. Anvela starts with a single shop and goes up to several stores, warehouse floor work (receiving, put-away, picking and loading), delivery runs with proof of delivery, and field teams. You turn on more as you grow, without moving to a new app.
What Anvela costs
