Salon and Barber Booking App in Nigeria: Get Booked, Get Paid a Deposit, Stop No-Shows

How many Saturday slots did your salon lose to customers who said "I'm coming" and never came?
For salons, barbershops, spas, nail studios, makeup artists and photographers, a no-show is a slot you cannot sell again. The chair sits empty, the stylist waits, and the customer who would have paid went somewhere else. Bookings on WhatsApp make it worse: messages get missed, two people get the same time, and nobody has paid anything.
A salon booking app fixes three things at once. New customers can find you. Anyone can book a free time without a long chat. And a deposit paid upfront turns a promise into a commitment. This guide shows how that works for a service business in Nigeria, using Anvela.
First, get found: your own booking page
The best booking system in the world does nothing if no one knows you exist. Your salon needs a page that customers can find and share.
With Anvela your business gets its own page:
- Your own link at https://anvela.ng/s/ and your business name, and an address like yoursalon.anvela.ng. Put it in your Instagram bio, your WhatsApp Business profile and your Google listing.
- A place on Anvela Market, if you switch it on, so customers searching your sector in your state can find you.
- A Share button on your page and on each service, so happy customers can send your link to friends on WhatsApp or Instagram.
Your page shows your services, prices, opening hours and area. For your safety, your phone number and WhatsApp show to a customer only after they have paid.
If you also sell products, like hair, wigs, creams or oils, the same page sells them. Read where can I sell my products online in Nigeria for more ways to reach buyers.
Let customers book a free time
A customer should not have to ask "Are you free on Saturday by 2?" and wait for a reply. They should see the free times and pick one.
To set up bookings in Anvela, the owner or a supervisor:
- Opens Sell → Bookings and taps Booking settings.
- Sets the opening hours for each day.
- Chooses how often times start: every 15, 30 or 60 minutes.
- Chooses how many customers the salon can see at once.
- Turns on online bookings, and sets how much notice is needed before a booking and how far ahead customers can book.
- Chooses whether customers pay in full or pay a deposit.
- Taps Save booking settings.
Each service, like knotless braids, a low cut or a manicure, has its own duration and price, so the calendar knows how long each booking takes. A service that takes a whole day, like hiring a hall or a studio, books the whole day.
Take a deposit: a booked slot is a paid slot
This is what stops no-shows. When a customer books on your page, Anvela holds the time for 30 minutes while they pay. They pay through Paystack, by card, transfer or USSD, and the money goes straight to your bank account. Paystack pays your share the next business day.
If the customer does not pay, the time is released for someone else. If they pay, the slot is theirs, and they have a reason to show up.

When the customer arrives, or does not
On the day, open Sell → Bookings to see today's bookings.
| Button | What it does |
|---|---|
| Check in | The customer has arrived. What they paid online is marked as paid. Anything still owed is taken at the counter as a sale. |
| Did not come | The customer did not come. You can tap it only after their time has started. A paid deposit is kept. |
| Move | Moves the booking to another free time. |
| Cancel booking | Cancels with a reason. If it was paid, Anvela shows the money owed back. |
| Record refund | Saves that you paid the money back. |
Walk-in customers can be booked at the counter too: tap Book a customer, choose the service and a free time, and type the customer's name and phone.
Write a simple deposit policy
A deposit works best when the rule is clear before the customer pays. Put a short policy on your page and in your WhatsApp status, for example:
- A deposit secures your time.
- Running late? Message us and we will try to fit you in, or move your booking.
- If you do not come, the deposit is not refunded.
- If we have to cancel, you get your full deposit back.
Keep it friendly. Most customers respect a salon that values its time.
After the booking: sell, count and pay your team
Bookings are only one part of running a salon. With Anvela, the rest of the business is in the same place:
- Sell products at the counter and send the receipt to the customer's WhatsApp. See our guide to the POS system for shops in Nigeria.
- Track each stylist's sales and commission under Sell → Money out → Staff sales and commission. Stylists do not need their own account.
- Count the cash at the end of the day and catch a gap the same evening. See the closing time cash count.

What it costs
Every area of Anvela, including online bookings with deposits, is free for every business until 12 January 2027. After that, the free Start plan keeps bookings at the counter. Online bookings with deposits come with the Growth plan, at ₦9,500 a month.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best salon booking app in Nigeria?
Look for an app that gives your salon its own booking page, shows customers your free times, takes a deposit through a Nigerian payment provider straight into your bank, and handles check-in, no-shows and refunds. Anvela does all of this, and it also runs your sales, stock and cash count.
How do I stop no-shows at my salon?
Ask for a deposit when the customer books, and make the rule clear before they pay. With Anvela, the time is held while the customer pays, and a deposit is kept if they do not come.
Can customers pay a deposit by transfer?
Yes. Customers pay through Paystack, which takes card, bank transfer and USSD. The money goes straight to your bank account.
Can a barbershop use the same booking app?
Yes. Barbershops, spas, nail studios, makeup artists, photographers and event halls all use bookings the same way. Each service has its own duration and price.
Can I still take walk-in customers?
Yes. Book a walk-in customer at the counter in a free time, or sell the service straight away as a sale.
